Death Rattles: Poetry Kindle Edition
Loneliness, death, grief, and conflict. We all suffer from these, but will they kill us? This poet thinks so. More than one hundred micro poems, only a few words each, speak for all of us that are slowly dying from isolation, distance, death, and fear. Recognized as "a meaningful new voice in American Poetry," Plett's poems have been described as "fragile portals" to connect, feel, and bond with. Longlisted for the 2018 Sexton Poetry Prize, Death Rattles is loaded with daily mantras, promises to oneself, comfort chants, and sometimes, jokes to help you lighten up. With the author's intense, darkly comedic, and clever revelations, you'll find yourself bonding with them as they encapsulate a collective feeling of the times. We are all alone together.

Report
What a gorgeous collection "Death Rattles" is. Plett's work is equal parts metaphysical and earthy, and it is this blend that I found so intoxicating to read. At times her poems--short, often only a line or two in length--read like ancient philosophical koans, and at others they read as modern dispatches from the imagination of an authentic and original poet. In other words, "Death Rattles" is a lovely collection, and one I am certain I will return to again and again the years to come.

Plett has birthed a raw collection of poetry at a time when we need it most. These words are salve for the lonely, brokenhearted, and confused among us. It has been years since the written word has induced tears in me. Death Rattles has earned a dedicated place on my proverbial bookshelf.

Death Rattles has both jolted me awake and sung me into a deep slumber. It is a comforting sleep of those familiar somber dreams that I enjoy to share only with my own loneliness. And I am awakened, my heart aching to share this poetry collection with others who have heavy feelings.
